LISBOA, PORTUGAL 2017 (1st stage), 2018 (2nd stage) (with Baldios, Arquitectos Paisagistas)
Praça de Espanha as we know it today is the result of a space of conflict between infrastructure, urban logic and hydrological condition. The proposal starts from the reinvention of the ribeira valley that intercepts the space, fictionalizing a pre-existing reality adapted to the real needs of the city of Lisbon today.
The Park's places are intensified by the presence of some built elements: a bridge or a filly over the water line, an amphitheater modeled on the proposed topography, the Arco de São Bento, which appears almost like a ruin in the Park. We propose the creation of a promenade bordering the Park that expands, converging into four main entrances, coinciding with the main urban intersections: Palhavã Square, Columbano Square, Comuna Square and Dumont Entrance.
From the main entrances to the Park, with a distinctly urban feel, a choreography of paths adapted to the topography, offer slow and winding crossings allowing the discovery of the Park's places and ecologies.
Of this network, there is a peripheral path, of more generous width and paved, that connects the different entrances to the Park and interconnects the main programs of the park.
