RIGA, LATVIA 2014 (with Brigita Bula arhitekti)
Renovation of an incomplete house from the Soviet period, located in a rural area of Riga. As in the case of the project for the RBS SKALS offices, developed practically at the same time, the conversion of the single-family house in Ikskile, south of Riga, sought to integrate the old building as a historical witness to a remarkable period in the country, albeit socially and politically. negative, recovering local construction traditions and materials usually used in the region, such as solid brick, here recovered from old demolitions.
The old and new parts of the construction use reused or new bricks, respectively, although with the same size, so that only the wear of some in contrast to the recent manufacture of others allows us to perceive the difference of times in the final outlook.
