BERGAMO, ITALY 2015 (with CLAB architttetura & NIMBU architecttura e urbanistica)
In 2015, Ventura Trindade was selected as one of the five finalists of the international competition for the renovation of the former 'Montellungo-Colleoni' military installations in Bergamo. The project consists of its conversion into university residences, a sports center (both for the University of Bergamo) and a set of upper class housing promoted by CDP Investimenti Sgr. The history of the site is marked by successive transformations, demolitions and new constructions and are, above all, these memories, with historical importance in the local and national context, that constitute a patrimonial set to preserve.
The project also has an extensive intervention in the surrounding urban space, seeking to relate the internal space of the large joint built with the surrounding public gardens, resolving traffic conditions, parking, among other issues in the city. The intervention extends over an area with more than 30,000 m2 and has an investment of more than 50 million euros. The remaining four teams selected for the final phase of the competition were David Chipperfield architects (London, Berlin, Milan, B New York), Ines Lobo architects (Lisbon), Nieto & Sobejano, architects (Madrid, Berlin) and Barozzi / Veiga architects ( Barcelona, Milan).
